Netflix attracting pirates on board

ONLINE pirates may be leaving the world of illegal downloads to join online streaming service Netflix, new research suggests.

The latest Choice survey on online piracy shows a decline in the rate of Australian illegal downloads, down from 33% to 30% since November last year.

It also showed a fall in the number of people admitting to pirating films or TV monthly, down from 23% last November to 17% this month.

Choice campaigns manager Erin Turner said the survey also showed a jump in the number of people using legal pay-per-view services - from 46% to 59% in the past six months.
