Netballers net a first for Chinchilla club

TWO young Chinchilla netballers have made history with their selection by the Darling Downs Panthers for the U19 team.

A very happy Chinchilla Netball president Kelly Statham announced the news this week about two of the club's own rising stars, Olivia Mutch and Sallie Sommerfeld being named to compete in the State League in 2017.

"This has been a huge effort involving travel to Toowoomba every Sunday for a month just to trial,” Statham said.

"Liv and Sal backed themselves enough to follow their dreams, and this is a big step on that journey.

"Well done girls. You have done yourselves, your family and Chinchilla Netty very proud!

"We must also acknowledge their parents (particularly mums Julie Mutch and Trish Sommerfeld).

"This kind of success does not happen without the support, encouragement and sometimes a big push from home - so well done mums and dads too!”

Fellow Chinchilla Netballer Lane Symons also received accolades from the club's president for being named as a reserve for the Open Darling Downs Panthers team.

"This is also a first for Chinchilla Netball. Great Effort Lane,” Statham said.
