Nadia's 'uncomfortable' Married At First Sight wedding

NADIA Stamp admits her wedding on Married at First Sight was uncomfortable viewing.

The Brisbane-based flight attendant, who calls the Sunshine Coast her second home, tied the knot with 33-year-old race caller Anthony on the reality dating show tonight.

They are one of 10 couples participating in the social experiment, which uses psychology to match strangers in an eight-week experimental marriage.

In a particularly awkward moment, Nadia refused to kiss her new husband, who was clearly smitten with her, after they exchanged rings against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour.

"It was one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever done," Nadia told the Daily. "Our wedding was full of awkward moments.

"He was very encouraging. He took that role really well and I just tried to walked my way through it."

Nadia, 36, then went off script by throwing away her pre-written vows and reception speech. It worked a treat, with her admission of being clumsy but able to 'cook a mean roast' getting a laugh from their wedding guests.

"I looked at my vows and went 'Oh God I wrote these not knowing who this person was, promising all these things to a person I've never met'. I handed back my vows to the celebrant and then I ad libbed," she said.

"I did that with my speech as well. I wanted to understand my surroundings before I opened my mouth. I wanted to speak my truth and what I felt as opposed to something I pre-scripted without knowing the environment I was in."

While some couples jump straight into the deep end, Nadia's friends-first approach to the social experiment means her relationship with Anthony is likely to be a slow burn.

"I'm 36 so I've been around to know enough that anyone can say the right thing but it's in how they treat you (that matters) and not just in a small window of time," she said.

"On the one hand you think 'this is great, here's someone on the same page as me'. It takes away all the reservations of that first date asking questions like do you plan to get married?

"But on the other hand my personal life and matters of the heart are going to be everyone's business (on national TV)."

In the next stage of the experiment Nadia and Anthony will go on a honeymoon before moving into an apartment in Sydney.
