My Kitchen Rules wants energy workers for next series
IT may be time for workers in the resources sector to take off the hard hats and put on a chef's hat, because My Kitchen Rules is hoping to find contestants from the minerals and energy sectors.
Channel 7's producers are casting for the next series of MKR. They are searching for passionate home cooks, who in teams of two will show off their culinary skills to impress chef judges Pete Evans and Manu Feildel.
While current teams are cooking up a storm in the MKR Kitchen Headquarters, producers are calling out for a new crop of enthusiastic teams ready to take up the challenge.
Channel 7 has announced a fifth series of the show, which currently has audiences glued to their TV screens four nights a week.
Series producer Evan Wilkes said they were hoping to tap into the coal seam and uncover the nation's next top talent.
"It's that great part of Australia. Miners have a lot of character and the big part of MKR is not only cooking, but the characters, and I reckon there are a lot of miners who have great stories in and out of the kitchen," Mr Wilkes said.
"They're not afraid of hard work… and there are some pretty tough guys and girls, and there is no reason they don't like to mix it up in the kitchen as well.
"We are looking for Australia's best home cooks… people who are eager and essentially want to have a go and try out," he said.
"We're casting right now up until June 1 (and we) do filming in the second half of this year."
Mr Wilkes said they looked at every application.
"We leave no stone unturned. We endeavour to speak to every single team that applies, and we reach out as far as we can," he said.
"That's what we're looking for - people from regional Australia. We don't just want cities represented," he said.
MKR executive producer Rikkie Proost said the show was an opportunity for Australia's most passionate home cooks.
"It's for those people who love to spend the weekend experimenting in the kitchen, baking for their work colleagues and devouring the latest cookbooks. MKR is all about showcasing their flare and enthusiasm."
Resources workers who want a cooking adventure like no other are encouraged to apply and show Australia what they're made of.
