EX-Yellow Wiggle, Sam Moran, has returned to children's entertainment with his own TV show.

His interactive, music-based show Play Along With Sam is aimed at preschoolers and focuses on the philosophy of learning through play.

Moran's character, also called Sam, is a musical adventurer who wears a safari suit and explores his colourful world through sound, song and a variety of musical instruments.

"Music has been shown to aid in lots of different parts of a child's development," Moran told The Guide.

"It incorporates multiple learning centres of the brain simultaneously.

"So, for example, we might explore what a certain letter sounds like, which is also one of the building blocks for learning to read."

The show features 20 original songs written by Moran, and is broken down into bite-sized segments with themes like Letter of the Day, One-Minute Dance Party, Sound Specimen, Sam Says and Rhyming Riddles.

As well as being a sounding board for his material, Moran's daughter Eloise, 3, makes her songwriting debut in the series with her tune Singing Lark.

"It's the first tune she made up," he said.

"She sang it over and over for three days straight."

He hopes to tour the country with live shows once the TV series has launched and established a fan base.

"Obviously the kids get to engage with me through the television, but what I love about the live shows is I get to see the kids' reactions."
