Mum snaps up chance at stardom with LA acting course

REBECCA Hayden is off to Los Angeles to become a movie star after being accepted to one of LA's biggest acting schools, The Acting Corps.

"I put in an application recently and told them what I've done," she said.

"They interviewed me, called me back, looked at my portfolio and offered me a nine-month sponsorship program."

The 28-year-old caught the acting bug after watching Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura and has been an extra on Australian productions including Charlie & Boots and The Killing Field.

A huge fan of Carrey, the former Urangan State High School student said she would most likely excel in dramatic roles because she could cry on cue and be spontaneously dramatic.

"When I was a kid, I used to go down on my knees on the Esplanade and go 'I'm a superstar', and I still do it to this day. I'm very passionate about acting and even if I earn $3 a day acting, I do it," she said.

"A lot of people ask me why I'm stepping out of my comfort zone to go to LA but I've always believed that fear is the one thing that will hold you back, so I'm going to give it a shot."

Ms Hayden's husband and her two children will be with her for the course.
