MP makes the most for the Maranoa electorate
FOLLOWING Maranoa ALP candidate Linda Little announcing she will contest the seat of Maranoa in the upcoming election, Maranoa MP David Littleproud has responded saying he will continue to focus on delivering funds that drive economic growth.
Since 2016, Mr Littleproud has secured $4billion for the Maranoa, enabling him to make the most of rural lifestyle while still having access to these state-of-the-art services.
Not only has Mr Littleproud been devoted to helping fund development projects including road upgrades and investment in tourism infrastructure, but a strong advocate for fighting drug addiction.
"I've seen first-hand how ice is affecting towns in the electorate, where I've grown up and lived, which is why I've increased services to fight drug addiction,” he said.
"Funds have been allocated for a new clinical worker in Roma to support the wider community in the fight against ice and to tackle addiction.
"As a father, the ice scourge scares me the most - addiction doesn't discriminate, everyone in our community has been touched by drug or alcohol abuse and that's why I've fought hard for better, targeted support in our rural and remote communities.”
Through his time in the Maranoa seat, Mr Littleproud has gone a long way to improving roads and highways public services, community events, tourism infrastructure, digital connectivity and support for farmers in drought.
"The Warrego Highway is an economic and social lifeline in the Maranoa region and $508million has been allocated to upgrades on this highway,” he said.
"Roma is Australia's largest cattle selling centre and I secured $3.96million for the development of the Roma Saleyard Multipurpose Facility.
"This modern facility will enhance sales opportunities with its digital infrastructure and the interactive centre will be an important asset explaining how the cattle industry works to passing tourists.”
Improved mobile phone coverage, funded through the Mobile Blackspot Program, was one of Mr Littleproud's priorities in the Jackson and Brucedale areas.
"We're not only better connected for business, education and social matters, but also as a safety measure,” he said.
"My job is to simply get Maranoa's fair share, and we're finally getting close.
"Investing in well-equipped infrastructure is a priority because it gives our businesses access and choices.”
