Morning flights from Coast to Sydney off the schedule

SUNSHINE Coast travellers have missed the boat if they're looking to book a morning flight to Sydney on Jetstar in the coming weeks.

Jetstar had put on a morning service to Sydney to cover the peak June-July school holiday period. But that daily scheduled flight has now ended.

A Jetstar spokesman said the morning flight was not a year-round service.

"Like all airlines, we build our schedule around the demand for the services," he said.

"We certainly see strong demand around seasonal periods with flying into the Sunshine Coast.

"Our capacity levels in and out of the Sunshine Coast are not decreasing.

"It's not a case that we've reduced our seats in and out of Maroochydore."

He said the Jetstar 11.35am flight from Sydney would be the first from that city into the Coast airport each day, with the first Maroochydore to Sydney flight was scheduled daily now at 1.40pm.

The next extra seasonal services would start for the September school holidays, the spokesman said.

Virgin Australia has a regular 10.35am flight from Maroochydore to Sydney on Mondays but 11.30am flights other days of the week as the first service to Sydney.

Virgin has a 10.25am flight to Melbourne on Mondays and 11.30am other days of the week. Jetstar has no regular morning flight to Melbourne.
