Mick Watson

DOWN-to-earth truckie Mick Watson drives a Kenworth 408 for Day's Freightlines and had hauled steel from Melbourne to Townsville when Big Rigs spotted him on May 29.

The 47-year-old Mick is based at Oaklands in NSW and was heading off to Emerald for a backload of cotton for Brisbane.

"I have been a driver for 28 years and I love the job and the Kenworth is great with its ISX 550hp Cummins motor," he said.

His favourite roadhouse is at Renner Springs in the NT where he said the meals are tasty and reasonably priced and facilities clean.

During his time off Mick likes to go fishing in the Bohle River north of Townsville.

Mick is so passionate about supporting the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL that he has a tattoo with their name on his arm.
