INTEREST in flights to Melbourne and Cairns in Toowoomba has soared, the head of a company offering the new routes says.

Airnorth Australia's premier regional Airline, will commence non-stop Jet services between Toowoomba's Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport and Melbourne, and also Toowoomba and Cairns from March 14.

Airnorth chief executive officer Daniel Bowden said initial support and interest in these services had been fantastic.

"Inquiries are coming from various corporate and leisure markets," he said.

"We look forward to welcoming new passengers on board and we are sure they will enjoy the product offering in our state-of-the-art Embraer E170 jets, coupled with our exceptional customer service plus more."

Wellcamp Airport general manager said it was an exciting time for the region.

"Toowoomba and surrounding regions has a catchment area of almost 400,000 people and by the time residents drive two hours to Brisbane Airport, park and then fly, a direct service from Wellcamp Airport would already have them at their destination in either Melbourne or Cairns.

"Time is money for many travellers and we are very encouraged with the level of inquiries we are receiving for these direct jet service and expect early ticket sales, for introductory sale travel periods, to sell quickly."
