Meet the Heart of Gold filmmakers here in Gympie

HEART of Gold's highly popular event, Filmmaker Presents sessions, returns to the 2015 Heart of Gold Short Film Festival program and is an amazing opportunity to meet some of the artists whose work will be on show during this year's festival.

Visiting filmmakers, actors and writers will screen and then discuss the ins-and-outs of their films in a more intimate setting.

This is a great chance to get to know the people behind the lens and film sets, and to ask them about the methods of their madness.

Noosa local Moacir Zeledon, who hails all the way from Mexico and stars in I Lost My Dream, said he is looking forward to sharing the short film with the attendees and other filmmakers during the 12-2pm session today in the Fossicker's Room.

Heart of Gold will be the world premiere of I Lost My Dream which tells the story of Moacir, who learnt when he was only a boy that not all your dreams will come true.

He soon learns that you don't fail from trying, you fail from giving up.

"The film itself was created to inspire those who watch it, so it's awesome to finally get it out there. It's a follow up to Somewhere Near Tapachula, a documentary that screened at Heart Of Gold in 2010," Moacir said.

At the Filmmaker Presents session, Moacir will share the success of the first documentary and also talk about the idea and vision of the short I Lost My Dream.

Another highlight of the Q & A sessions will be the candid discussion between the star of Heart of the Queen, Wanita, and the film's director, Matthew Walker. Heart of the Queen recalls the life story of Wanita, who decided she was Australia's Queen of Honky Tonk at age three. Forty years later, the title remains undisputed, however everything else about her life is up for grabs and Wanita has issued the following challenge.

Patron, director, writer, and actor Wayne Blair will also be treating Heart of Gold patrons to a special Q & A session.

This is a rare opportunity that would make any cinephile swoon.

Catch him talking about his illustrious career, on Saturday, 3-5pm in the Heritage Theatre.

These sessions cost the same as usual film sessions (adult $15: concession $10). Program and tickets can be downloaded from heartofgold.com.au.
