M’boro’s study hub immune from Sunshine Coast takeover

IT WILL be business as usual in Maryborough with the University of Southern Queensland's study hub immune from the takeover by the University of the Sunshine Coast.

USQ Vice-Chancellor and President Jan Thomas has confirmed USC will have no involvement with the USQ Hub in Maryborough.

"There will be no changes to the facilities and the USQ Hub in Maryborough will be extended to supporting students who wish to continue their University of Southern Queensland degree via online/ external study," she said.

USC are also close to releasing details about what courses will be offered at the Fraser Coast campus.

"The study programs USC plans to offer at Hervey Bay are being finalised and will be advertised in the Fraser Coast Chronicle this Saturday," USC Acting Vice-Chancellor Birgit Lohmann said.

The future for staff remains uncertain with no decision made on job losses.

"It is too early to make any decisions in relation to Fraser Coast employees," Prof Lohmann said.

"Discussions are occurring with the University of the Sunshine Coast in relation to staffing matters including possible employment options and information will be provided to USQ Fraser Coast employees as soon as possible."
