M'boro short film about Asperger's to be shown on TV

MARYBOROUGH filmmaker Nick Aiton, will have his short film, featuring Mayor Gerard O'Connell, showcased on national television on Sunday night.

The five-minute short film titled Life is a Circus will air on Foxtel's TV, channel 183, at 8.30pm.

Filmed in Maryborough, it tells the story of Nick's life with Asperger's syndrome and he hoped it would help to raise awareness about autism.

It has been entered into the 2013 Nova Short Film Competition and is Nick's first competition entry.

The film shows some of the support he has received from the local community and highlights other youth who are often overlooked because of their disabilities.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell features in the film and Fraser Coast TESS chief executive officer Lance Stone makes a cameo appearance.

Another of Nick's short films, this one titled Seeking, will be posted on his You Tube channel Harlequin Films in the next couple of weeks.

The next project for Nick will be a light hearted look at zombies, filmed entirely on the Fraser cast and casting will start in early January.

Anyone interested in appearing in the film should email casting@harlequinfilms.com.au.
