"MAX" the truckie has been trucking for a staggering 38 years.
The rig of the day, when Max grasped the steering wheel, was Leyland Beaver and he was a steering wheel operator for Terry Hunter doing two-day produce runs from Sydney to Shepparton.
Then from there "Max" did a stint for Mickey Travlos driving a rocket, a SAR Kenworth, doing the overnight express from Sydney to Melbourne. He also did the Sydney to Brisbane leg, as well done a tour with Eastoes.
Eastoes is a name from the past.
Max said the best truck he has driven was a Western Star FX 4800 for Geoff Richards from Beenleigh. These days Max cruises the highways in a Kenworth COE (cab over engine) K 104B. The Cummins cracks out 600 horsepower and is stirred up by an 18-speed gearbox. The K-Whopper rides on air bag suspension and pulls a B-double Taut liner for Camerons Interstate.
On this trip when interviewing Max he just trucked over from the west. He said the Perth leg was good too.
When asked about the Kenworth, Max said it was just a truck and was over priced and overrated.
Max's spare time is spent with family and the grandkids. The owner of the Kenny is VDP Tpt from Brissie.
