What do you get when you cross a Masterchef Finalist, a well renowned local chef, two boxes of Ballina Shire's finest produce and a country crowd ready for action - one saucy competition!

The tension will be palpable when Masterchef finalist Jules Allen takes on event sponsor Ballina RSL Club's own Gerhard Spatz in a Mystery Box Cook Off at the Summerland House Farm Country Fair on Sunday 15 September.

The main stage will host the competition that will see the two professional chefs go head to head competing to create the best dish from a box of mystery ingredients.

All the ingredients will be local produce sourced from the Ballina Shire but organisers have a surprise up their sleeve throwing in some tricky items to challenge the chef's creativity and spontaneity.

Whose team will you be on? Team Jules or Team Gerry?

The Mystery Box Cook Off will be hosted by ABC radio's Phil Dudman and is sure be a highlight of the day and draw a big crowd.

Held on the beautiful Alstonville plateau, the Summerland House Farm Country Fair is growing to be one the region's most popular annual events.

This year's event will be held on Sunday 15 September from 9am to 4pm with a focus around environmental
sustainability and community spirit.

The event program is jam packed with family activities, attractions and entertainment including a Bush Poets Breakfast, Masterchef Mystery Box Cook Off, live music, tractor tours, regional fine food and wine tastings
plus the popular Make It, Bake It, Grow It markets.
