Mary Poppins rehearsals strike high note

THE stage is being set and the costumes are being stitched, as Dalby State High School students rehearse for this year's theatre production.

The iconic tale of Mary Poppins will be performed in late May, with students currently memorising their lines before the school holidays.

School drama teacher Janet Ash said production was on track.

"We will be on five weeks after the holidays and I think we will be ready,” Mrs Ash said.

"We just need to consolidate some of the big numbers and then get all the costumes, props and sets ready, then we will be flying.”

Mrs Ash said audiences can expect all the fun and excitement that goes with a school musical.

"Magic, fun and amazement is what people can expect.

"It is a really fun show, but it is a big show. We have over 80 kids in the show and every three pages the set changes.

"But it is fun, it is colourful and everybody knows it.”

The production will run from Tuesday, May 23 through to Saturday, May 27.

Tickets will be on sale to the public shortly after the Easter break.
