THE fledgling relationship of one of the couples on Married At First Sight appears to have imploded.

Clare Verrall and Jono Pitman, who met at the altar on the reality TV show, called it quits on their experimental marriage after struggling to resolve disagreements.

The controversial couple were already on the rocks with several arguments taking place after they moved in together, with Jono moving out early.

Even upon their first meeting on their wedding day, Jono's body language mirrored his confession to his mates that Clare wasn't what he "ordered".

They agreed to meet up for the group dinner on tonight's show and things went downhill from there.

Within minutes of arriving Clare declared attending the dinner party with Jono after breaking up with him an hour previously as a "worst case scenario".

Things then got more awkward when the other couples asked about what had happened between them.

Clare called him a "ghost husband" while Jono admitted to feeling jealous of the bonds of the other couples.

His comment about the failed experiment not being his "last chance" appeared to push her over the edge and she excused herself to have a cry downstairs. A supportive Simone helped her to regain her composure.

Erin didn't let Clare off the hook, though, pointing out the negative way in which she spoke of Jono at the dinner table.

The remaining three couples will meet each others' families tomorrow night.
