Man dead after truck and car fiery crash

UPDATE: The Bruce Hwy is expected to remain closed for at least another hour following a fatal two vehicle crash near Clairview earlier today.

Police say initial investigations suggest a truck and a sedan collided on the Bruce Hwy at Clairview, just south of Carmila around 7.30am.

The truck and its cargo caught fire, causing a grass fire at the scene of the crash on the side of the highway.

Sadly the driver and sole occupant of the sedan, a 22-year-old Jubilee Pocket man, has died.

The driver of the truck, a 48-year-old Maryborough man, sustained serious burns and was airlifted to the Mackay Base Hospital.

9.30am: QUEENSLAND Police say a man has died and another man has been seriously injured in a two vehicle crash on the Bruce Hwy near Clairview earlier today.

Police received reports a truck and sedan collided on the Bruce Hwy at Clairview, just south of Carmila around 7.30am.

The truck and its cargo caught fire, causing a grass fire at the scene of the crash on the side of the highway.

One man has died and another man received serious injuries and was airlifted to the Mackay Base Hospital.

The Bruce Hwy is expected to be closed for up to six hours with traffic diversions in place at Sarina and Marlborough.

This traffic diversion is not for B-Doubles.

Police say there is no further information available at this stage.
