Man arrested after major Coast car yard theft

A 25-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with the theft of two cars from a Caloundra car yard.

Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Property Crime Squad yesterday tracked the man to Golden Beach after the office of Gary Cricks Caloundra was broken into on December 4.

Car keys and two vehicles were stolen, which were linked to break-in offences in the area the next day.

Police advised one of the stolen cars was found in Park Ridge three days later, but a 2014 silver Holden commodore ute is still missing.

The man was further charged with stealing number plates from a car in Kings Beach.

He will appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on January 10 and has so far been charged with unlawful use of vehicle, theft of number plates, receiving stolen property and wilful damage of property.

Police are continuing their investigations into the Cricks theft and linked offences, with a number of other possible suspects identified.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Policelink on 131 444, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
