Making a quid

RE: Bruce Honeywill's story on money to be made in truck driving (Big Rigs, Edition #22)    WELL let's see, long distance award doing pick-ups and deliveries within I think 70ks of major post office - eg: Melbourne goes as far as Dandenong, Brisbane out to Ipswich or Caboolture, etc. - for free no longer rate.    Check it out in long distance award then there is load and unload, oh, I'm sure that's in the Kim rate. No.    Then we start with the revenue raising which is not tax deductible but should be. Then the local round town work where suddenly you only get super on 38 hours even if casual doing 60 plus and let's not forget those that only pay time and a half after 38 hours.    What's that double-time stuff, I can't afford that. Wonder why you cannot get people into driving, that's just a few things.   -Allan Bryce
