Major Qld council to zone for adult "party precinct" in homes

A SPECIAL "party house" precinct, complete with approval for strippers, is set to be officially zoned by the Gold Coast City Council.

The council is preparing to designate most of Surfers Paradise as a party-house district, allowing home and unit owners to let their properties out for events such as bucks' parties and potentially swingers' soirees.

The zone, part of a proposed new City Plan to come into force next month, will include approval for "adult entertainment" as long as it can't be seen or heard from neighbouring properties or public places.

Council planning committee boss Cameron Caldwell said turning Surfers into an approved party house zone was designed to stop party houses springing up in the suburbs, where they have been the source of major angst for residents.
