Heavy delays after two truck crash in Burnley tunnel

TWO HEAVY trucks have smashed in the Burnley Tunnel causing major delays for motorists heading into this city from the west, while a nasty smash on the Calder Fwy adding to the woes.

A truck crashed into the back of another truck in the tunnel this morning and tow trucks have picked up the vehicles.

A CityLink spokeswoman said everyone was safe following the incident.

A VicRoads spokesman said the right-hand lane had been blocked but it was now clear.

Traffic has been banked back to the Westgate Bridge, and delays will continue while traffic resumes to normal.

He suggested motorists turn off at Williamstown Rd and go up Footscray Rd to get into the city.

A broken down truck also added to delays in the tunnel this morning.

But another nasty smash on the Calder Fwy at the Ring Rd about 9.45am is causing more delays for city bound traffic.

All lanes are closed inbound, except the emergency lane, according to VicRoads.

Traffic is banked back to Keilor Park Drive with delays expected across the morning.
