Mackay man rang in fake suicide threat
A MACKAY region man rang in a fake suicide threat to 000 after his partner left during a violent argument.
The 33-year-old with a five-page criminal record walked from court on probation despite his actions, which breached a domestic violence order.
The Daily Mercury cannot legally identify the man, who appeared before Magistrate Mark Nolan in Mackay Magistrates Court on February 14.
He pleaded guilty to contravening a domestic violence order on November 12 last year.
Prosecutor Acting Sergeant Duncan Erskine said the man and his partner were arguing when he "pushed the aggrieved against the wall and used his bodyweight to pin the aggrieved”.
When the woman struggled she connected with an arm injury the man sustained in a vehicle crash, and he scratched her back.
The woman left the home and drove off, while the man "called 000 and has told the emergency operator that the aggrieved has told him that she wanted to commit suicide that night”.
Police found the woman, who refuted that claim.
Defence solicitor Geoff Govey, of Taylors Solicitors, said his client lived with depression and schizophenia, and had been off his medication.
Magistrate Mark Nolan said the breach was concerning, but did note the victim supporting the man.
The man was placed on probation for six months.
