From Eat Street to food and wine days to street festivals and race days, here's some of the biggest and best days and nights out in Mackay promising some mouth-watering food for the remainder of 2017...
Marian Night Fest
- When: Friday, April 28 from 4-8pm
- Where: Marian Town Centre, Anzac Avenue, Marian
On offer will be family fun including street food, live music, market stalls, fresh food produce and children's entertainment.
Jayco Mackay Italian Street Party
- When: Saturday, April 29, 4-9pm
- Where: Wood Street, Mackay
Come down and experience the celebration as Mackay transforms into an authentic "Little Italy"! Food, wine, music, entertainment like Spaghetti Eating Competition and Pizza Tossing, kids area, Italian car and motorbike area, and Lots of Fun!

Lamberts Beach Seafood and Wine Festival
- When: Sunday, April 30, 2017 11am-8pm
- Where: Seabreeze Hotel Mackay
The Seabreeze Hotel Mackay is presenting the Lamberts Beach Seafood and Wine Festival.
This family friendly festival includes: - Local Seafood and Food Stalls - Kids Zone - Craft beer, Wine and Cider Stalls This event will feature all day live music featuring a performance by Busby Marou. Definitely not an event to be missed!
Eat Street Food Fest #4
- When: Saturday, May 6 from 3.30pm-9.30pm
- Where: Harrup Park
Get ready for an afternoon of delicious food from heaps of vendors, music by the amazing BabyBoomers into the night, a craft beer bar, a large kids activity area, select creative stalls and more.
This time, the event will be condensed to the main oval with some of the favourite food vendors back, including Up in Smoke BBQ, Vintage Kiss, Brazilian Flavours, Hun's Delight and so many more.
Entry fee: $2 adults, $1 for kids aged 4-12. Kids under 4 are free.
Big Boar Bikes and Blues
- When: Saturday, June 3
- Where: Kuttabul Hotel
Annual avent raising funds for Royal Flying Doctors Service, will again be held at Kuttabul Pub. Starting from Big Boar Shop at 11am with $1000 Roll the Dice Run and ending at Kuttabul, where the rest of the fun will start. Keg push and throw and pie in face and chilli eating contests.
Will also have pool and arm wrestling as well as three live blues bands. Free camping on site. Heaps of food vendors and markets.
Crazy charity auction with huge prizes up for grabs including a trip to Rugby League World Cup. Tickets on sale from Big Boar shop $10. Proudly raising funds for Royal Flying Doctors.
Mackay Show
- When: June 20-22
- Where: Mackay Showgrounds
THERE'S so many options for food lovers at the annual Mackay Show. From dagwood dogs, to chips and potato spirals to the sugar cane drinks and local produce galore, the showgrounds will be a wealth of options.
The pavilion also has many stall holders of local and international items and the food stalls have something for everybody.
There is always something happening on the ring with showjumping and ring events to sit and watch throughout the day.
Entertainment is aplenty with local performers, whip cracking or the famous fireworks of an evening. The kids will have plenty of fun on rides for all ages from the little boats to the famous dodgem cars and then don't forget the showbags on your way around.
G&S Engineering Wine & Food Day
- When: Saturday, July 8, 2017
- Where: Queens Park, Mackay
Undoubtedly the biggest food day on the Mackay calendar, the G&S Wine and Food Day takes over Queens Park as local produce paired with Sirromet wines is celebrated. Music is another big feature, with events in the past attracting names like Tim Campbell, Renee Geyer and Glen Shorrock.
This year, special guests will include Paul West from River Cottage Australia for the popular Chef's Bites, Wendy Matthews headlining the entertainment as well as Mark Seymour from Hunters and Collectors.
Under the Winter Sun Long Lunch
- When: Sunday, July 9 from 1-5pm
- Where: Blacks Beach
This will be a unique dining experience hosted by Helloworld set on the fringe of beautiful Blacks Beach. Our pop up restaurant will have it all....great food, drinks, live music and, of course, fantastic views. Be entertained by "Fez and the Fox" to pass the afternoon away, whilst enjoying tasty food & enjoying a few drinks. Seats are limited, so be quick!
Sarina Beach Coconut Festival

- Where: At Sarina Beach
Sarina Beach Coconut Festival is an event showcasing the beautiful unspoiled Sarina Beach. This free event is has a spectacular array of festive activities including international kite flyers, camel rides, tropical market stalls and food vendors.
Fantastic local entertainers, children's activities, blokarts on the beach, train rides, coconut tree demonstrations, basket weaving and cultural dancers, there is something for everyone and all in a tropical, coastal setting over looking the Coral Sea. Come on down for an afternoon full of adventure for the family.
Mackay Airport Beach Horse Racing Festival
- When: Saturday, August 19
- Where: Mackay Harbour Beach
The annual Mackay Airport Beach Horse Races are an iconic event on North Queensland's sporting and social calendar. The showpiece of this is the Race Day attended by thousands of locals and visitors to the region, the event also features a legendary Opening Night Cocktail Party and post race day Garden Party.
On the day there's market stalls to sample, with local food vendors setting up in the park where live music will also be offered to the crowds.
Global Grooves 2017
- When: Saturday, October 21
- Where: Queens Park, Mackay
Tour the globe at Global Grooves 2017 held at beautiful Queens Park, celebrating the cultural diversity of the Mackay region with food from many different cultures and cuisines.
This one-day open-air event is free to the public and they encourage all of the Mackay region to travel the globe in a day! Line Palm Avenue for the Opening Parade featuring traditional dress from many countries.
Wander through the Global Village and experience the culture, traditions and food from the many different cultural groups of Mackay. With craft workshops for children, cultural demonstrations and a full line-up of entertainment on the main stage there's something for the whole family. The night will conclude with a fireworks display at 8.30pm.
