Love Letters plays on words
LOVE Letters is a beautiful play chronicling the lives and loves, hopes and dreams, triumphs and disappointments of two childhood friends through almost half a century of written correspondence.
Melissa and Andrew maintain their complex friendship through constant, although sometimes sporadic, notes, letters and cards.
The story explores the challenges and trials of growing up, navigating the teenage years and then the intricacies of changing adult relationships.
The two characters are completely different in their responses to life and the sentiment is expressed in the play, how two kids who grew up in the same era could be so different. But they are.
One is a dependable, steadfast, pillar of the community, the other is flighty, rebellious and full of life.
The play is the latest offering by CHATS and is directed by Allison Lowden who was last seen on stage in the 2016 CHATS production of Cosi. She has had a ball watching her cast develop the characters from the words of A.R. Gurney and can't wait to share their performances with Coffs Coast audiences.
Love Letters is on at the Jetty Theatre October 13, 16, 17, 19 and 20. All performances start 8pm. All tickets $20 with a portion of the ticket sales going to the Walsh Family Fundraiser.
