A THIRD generation Whitsunday man found love on national television on Tuesday night, after signing up to the WIN network's reality show 'When Love Comes to Town'.

Doug Davy, 28, met 30-year-old Brisbane-based marketing manager Zoe Gorbunow, when the 'love bus' pulled into Airlie Beach in December last year.

Doug and fellow Whitsunday bachelor Kendal Nash, were tasked with meeting eight of the original 12 city girls, who boarded the bus in Perth and travelled the nation, looking for 'the one'.

The boys and girls were introduced to each other at Villa Botanica, where four girls picked Kendal and four chose Doug, for a first date.

While Kendal took his ladies sailing around the Whitsunday islands, Doug and his harem embarked on a Proserpine River crocodile safari.

It was here that Doug and Zoe discovered mutual interests such as rugby league. Doug is a forward with the Whitsunday Brahmans and Zoe, by her own admissions, is "a bit partial to the odd footy player".

Zoe was one of two girls Doug then asked out on a second date to world famous Whitehaven Beach where he laid his heart on the line.

Zoe appeared equally hooked and it seemed that a romance was born.

At the end of the experience, it was up to each of the girls to decide whether to get back on the bus and accept single life or stay in Airlie and pursue a romance.

Zoe chose to stay and on Tuesday night all was revealed when the episode aired on TV.

Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited CEO Danial Rochford said aside from the love interest and success for a local lad, the exposure the show brought to the Whitsundays was "sensational" and ideally timed with current southern marketing campaigns.

Today, Doug said he and Zoe were still very much an item and he would be moving to Brisbane to be with her full time at the end of the year.
