SITTING back in the comfort of your own home or office taking a look around popular tourist spots, like Lady Musgrave Island and seeing everything it has to offer, is no longer a way of the future.

A Bundaberg man has made it possible with virtual tours which can be viewed online.

Paul Donaldson said he started the Panoramic 360 website to help promote the region and show people from far away what the area has to offer.

"I feel like Bundaberg has so many great areas and there's not much we don't have and this is a way to show it to the world," he said.

"What I do is interactive which means you can click on a certain spot and it will take you there and give more information.

"Or locals can have a look at something like a restaurant and click to have menu pop up."

Mr Donaldson said when you click on a virtual tour you may think you are looking at a video but you are actually viewing a number of photos.

"It's not a video but multiple photos taken consecutively," he said.

"People who aren't local can see what we have to offer.

"It's a great way and definitely a way of the future."

He said the subjects and ideas for the panoramic 360 view was endless and he hasn't come across anything he wasn't able to capture.

"Sometimes there are challenges but I get there in the end," he said.

"There is a lot of work which goes in to making these virtual tours.

"Picking the time for the shoot is important and the sitting at the computer making sure you have all the links connected."
