Local players show they're really on the ball

NETBALL: Netballers braved the terrible wind and cold on Saturday, to make for a great turnout.

It was the last game for the season for the juniors and semi-finals were played in the other grades.

Despite the bitterly cold conditions the juniors played with big smiles and continued to improve while having fun.

Congratulations to Red Rooster award winners Claire Barker and Charlotte Pompetti.

In the intermediate semi finals Lightening Strike was victorious over the Champions 11-5.

In the other game the Fierce Falcons defeated the Leaping Lizards in a very close game, with a final score of 5-4.

Congratulations to all players who showed great skill in difficult playing conditions.

Red Rooster Players of the Day were Abbie Mattiazi, Juliette Pompetti, Abbie Hinze, Hayley Hill, Sienna Berlese and Adriano Petrocitto.

In the senior competition (12 years-plus) all teams played well. Coaching staff have been amazed by every player's improvement over the season.

In a very evenly contested game Nikita's team was defeated by Gabby's team 17-20.

In the other game Emily's team defeated Kira's team 23-13.

Congratulations to the Red Rooster award winners, Taleah Daniels, Kirra St John, Taryn Hines and Rachel Flood.

Grand finals will be held this coming weekend.

The Lightening Strike will play the Fierce Falcons in the intermediate grand final and Gabby's team will play Emily's team in the senior competition. Players from all teams are encouraged to come along and cheer on their friends.

Take note that games will be played at the earlier time of 9.30am so games can be completed before the bus departs for Brisbane.

If anyone would like to join in, there are still a few spare tickets for the netball trip to Brisbane next weekend.

The club will be travelling to Brisbane to see Australia v England and South Africa v New Zealand.

The bus will leave about 11am on Saturday.
