Local actors to sing and perform in La boheme at Brolga

FRASER Coast actors will be chosen to form a local chorus to sing in Italian and act alongside Opera Queensland performers in La boheme at the Brolga Theatre.

Project Puccini is a world-first initiative by OperaQ to give 36 adults and 12 children from the Fraser Coast the chance to be perform with principal artists and musicians from Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Auditions to become a part of the Fraser Coast Chorus will be held from March 28-30.

Successful chorus members will then take part in a 10-week development program before performing in Puccini's La boheme at the Brolga on August 20.

OperaQ have employed a local chorus master and rehearsal coordinator, and will work in partnership with the Brolga Theatre and Fraser Coast Regional Council to ensure the highest standard of performance and personal development opportunities for budding local artists.

Project Puccini is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland's Playing Queensland Fund, and is also supported by the Graeme Wood Foundation.

The project aims to equip participants with improved music and drama skills, new social and creative networks, and an increased sense of community and wellbeing.
