DRAKE Trailers Australia has released a new breed of forklift and access equipment trailers onto the market.
The Australian designed, owned and manufactured trailers feature a 2.3 degree load angle and have a carrying capacity of 15 tonne.
And according to Drake Trailers, that makes it the safest and easiest to load forklift and access equipment trailer on the market.
The transport and logistic industry's workplaces, which are typically warehouses, ports, factories and freight terminals, rely on forklifts.
These busy, generally smaller 2-5 tonne machines, although there are plenty of really big versions around as well, are designed to operate at their best over flat ground and over short distances.
Forklifts of all sizes and capacities provide practical material handling solutions for a wide range of businesses, but they are also associated with workplace injuries.
Research has shown that many of these incidents are preventable.
Transporting forklifts using a purpose-built forklift trailer is one way many of these high-risk situations can be prevented.
Worksafe Queensland has reported that most forklift incidents involve unloaded forklifts which are often travelling too fast and / or too far across uneven or unsuitable surfaces.
A safer, more efficient option for transporting forklifts from A to B is to use a forklift trailer.
Drake Trailers have developed the only Australian-made, purpose-built forklift trailer to do just that.
It has a very low load angle which has been specifically designed to provide optimal safety for light multiple vehicles, such as forklifts and mobile variable height access equipment that require a low angle of approach for loading and unloading.
The Drake Trailers' forklift trailer has a low tare weight, it has a low load angle for optimal safety and it can carry multiple machines.
The trailer has a 15 tonne capacity and is fitted with single wheels that operate on independent hydraulic suspension which allows the rear of the trailer to be lowered quite close to the ground.
Some of its other standard features include a remote radio controlled 5.4 tonne capacity winch, five toolboxes fitted into the top deck and a running height of just 500-550mm.
Among the optional extras available on this interesting trailer are tie down points located in the deck plating.
