LISTEN: What's on offer at the CQ Mega Lifestyle Expo

FANCY tasting organic wine while riding a Segway, watching a drone demonstration or while on board a helicopter?

They are only some of the experiences on offer at the inaugural CQ Mega Lifestyle Expo on the weekend which aims to support local business and economy in a different way.

Event organiser Catrina Trail said the focus of the expo, set to become an annual event, was to display business and lifestyle opportunities on offer in the Central Queensland region.

"It's a caravan, camping, fishing, hunting and shooting all round lifestyle local expo, it's for CQ economic development, small business in the area (and) to really give some social life to Rockhampton," Ms Trail said.

"The motivation was really for economic development and a social life for Rockhampton, I don't feel like there is enough of that here and the businesses are really struggling.

"We need to try something different to succeed, we can't keep doing the same thing if it's not working.

"It is really just trying to put a boost back in and show Central Queensland something they haven't seen before.

"(We would) really just like to see local businesses have a go, try something different (and) convert their customers."

Ms Trail said the expo offered something for everyone and opportunities for local businesses to expand their customer base.

"I've talked to thousands of people and so many people have no idea what they can get here locally. If you put it all in the one place, everyone can get an understanding of what's actually available locally and support more local businesses," she said.

"This is a local event for local business and local people and we're local people holding it, we've invested ourselves into this. We want to see everyone come and have a great time."

The first day of the event will focus on womens' wellness with yoga, boot camp, naturopath and nutritionist talks and Lorna Jane packs are up for grabs for the first 50 women through the door.

On Saturday there will be Segway tours, helicopter rides, a golf driving range, free kids rides, night market, food market and entertainment.
