Lismore's top restaurant launches new dining experiences

BURGER nights and chef's choice dinners will soon be on the menu at The Bank Cafe in Lismore.

Owner Brad Rickard said Burger Night would launch on August 26 and the Chef's Table dinner on Saturday nights a few weeks later.

Mr Rickard said the Chef's Table was an opportunity for head chef Richard Kerr to be creative with local and seasonal produce.

"He is actually way over-qualified for cafe work," Mr Rickard said. "He spent years working in London. He worked in Marco Pierre White's restaurant, he has worked in other fine dining establishments - some with Michelin stars and some without."

Mr Kerr was born in Nimbin, studied in Sydney and worked abroad as a chef and sous chef.

He recently moved back to the Northern Rivers to take over his family's farm and start a family of his own.

Mr Rickard said said the Chef's Table menu would change every three to six weeks and the atmosphere would be "a bit formal, but not fine dining".

Friday night's Burger Night, however, would set a different pace and include live music.

"It will be fast, fun, casual, loud ... families early on and friends looking to catch up over a craft beer or wine later on," Mr Rickard said.

He said another of his plans for the cafe was to one day offer a menu that included fruit and vegetables he had grown.

The cafe was voted Lismore's top restaurant by TripAdvisor.
