Linc Phelps' early debut album release a 'happy accident'
AFTER almost 10 years performing music, Gympie's Linc Phelps is coming into the light.
Mr Phelps today released his first album titled Tempus, just in time for his first performance as a solo musician at the Gympie Music Muster.
He said "Tempus” came from the latin word for "time”, and commemorates his first solo record.
"It's kind of my time to do things the way I want,” he said.
Mr Phelps described the album's genre as Aussie rock and blues, and said it follows themes of "light and shade”.
"If I had to compare it to an existing artist, it would be down the lines of Crowded House, Black Sorrows kind of stuff,” he said.
The regular performer at The Royal Hotel recorded and released the album independently, and said he'd never sign his songs over in a record deal that meant he couldn't have artistic freedom.
But he's still hoping to make a distribution deal to bring the album into more music stores.
By "happy accident”, the album was accidentally released on iTunes today, instead of becoming available for pre-order as planned.
The album will be available on CD from August 19 at The Royal Hotel and the Musician's Garage in Gympie, and online at Google Play and most other online platforms.
A music video of the album's first single Familiar Skin is also due for release on August 19.
