Life's a 'crazy coaster ride' for Bill and Harmut
BILL Jenkins was driving a trusty old Volvo carrying parts of a Crazy Coaster ride when Big Rigs saw him on the outskirts of Townsville.
Bill works for Melbourne based FJF Amusements and was at the BP Cluden ready to take off for the Townsville Showgrounds.
"I have been to shows in Rockhampton and Mackay before this and will head off to Cairns Show after this one finishes,” he said.
His home region is around Taree in NSW and when he gets time for recreation Bill enjoys fishing in the Hawkesbury River.
"I catch flathead, catfish and the occasional shark and really love the life on the Show Circuit,” he said.
The number of rest areas isn't a major concern for Bill because he drives mainly between towns for the next show.
"The BP Cluden is a good place to stop at and there were lots of show trucks here yesterday,” he said.
He said the Volvo FM-7 was about 20 years old but did the job well.
Travelling near Bill was another company driver Hartmut Schlie who said he has worked for a long time on the circuit.
"On and off I have been with this company for 18 years and I enjoy getting up to North Queensland,” he said.
Hartmut was driving a Kenworth 200 and was hauling a large section of the popular Crazy Coaster ride.
