Life-saving equipment for Warwick Hospital

PATIENTS at Warwick hospital will benefit from a $9680 cheque donated by 1200kms for Kids to buy a new LED phototherapy system for the maternity ward.

After riding a gruelling 162km from Ipswich with stops at Laidley, Pilton and Allora, the 1200kms bike riders arrived in Warwick to present the money that was raised along the way.

Warwick Hospital Director of Nursing and facility manager Anita Bolton said the machine would be a great help in treating jaundice in babies.

"We really appreciate the support the 1200kms for Kids bike riders and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation have given to the hospital over the past few years," Ms Bolton said.

"We have around 200 babies a year born at Warwick Hospital and jaundice is a fairly common condition that we need to treat in some of these little ones."

Ms Bolton passed on her thanks to the bike riders for their commitment to the fundraising.
