TONY Turton has drawn cartoons for a hobby all his life.

"I've never made money out of it; always done it for nothing, mostly," he said.

Mr Turton moved to Australia from Rhodesia, or modern-day Zimbabwe, in 1961, and lived in Kumbia before moving into Orana.

"I've done it mostly for children, because there are things that are worth more than money," Mr Turton said.

Mr Turton said he was a justice of the peace for many years and used to draw cartoons for children while they waited.

"A lady came in for me to witness something and had her six-year-old daughter with her. I asked if she would like me to draw something for her daughter and she said she still had a drawing I had done for her 25 years ago, on her fridge," he said

Mr Turton has supplied his cartoons to free publications Kumbia Party Line, Bunya Mountains Newsletter, Orana Home Newsletter, and Murgon Moments.

"I love giving people pleasure out of my cartoons," he said.
