LETTER: Sex wars

TODAY there is, sadly a power struggle between men and women over who is the best one to manage a business or corporation.

Disagreement over promotional worthiness is unfortunate and very childish and immature.

What greater enjoyment could there be in employment than to work harmoniously alongside a person of the opposite gender? Who cares who gets the glory, praise or accolade in a business venture?

If the bone of contention surrounds the pay packet, it is most unfortunate.

Nobody should deny a woman her right to receive equal pay for equal work. She should receive adequate reward and recognition for her work.

Having said that, it is also true that she should be prepared to allow the man his input into the project.

If his idea appears more workable in a particular situation, then she should be willing to accommodate or include it.

It should be a natural thing for both to arrive at consensus on an important issue for the common good of all.

This should apply everywhere - not only in the workplace.

Where women are treated equally and afforded the respect they deserve, there need be no schism in the body of workers.
