Lesson learned on Perwillowen Rd footpath problem
THE recent public angst surrounding a footpath being installed on Perwillowen Rd, Nambour, around the existing power poles in the middle of the pathway, provided a good lesson for all parties involved in the development. The primary lesson is that everyone makes mistakes. The upside is that the problem will be fixed and we're now all working towards a practical solution. It will involve modifications to the pathway to allow those using the path and travelling on mobility devices to safely and easily navigate around the offending power poles, and the cost of these works will be borne equally between the engineering consultants, the developer and the council.
Water, water everywhere
IT WAS only a month ago that water supplies for residents not on town water were so dire that the council provided extra access to public taps for domestic refilling. Despite the October downpours, I am examining some better systems to make things easier for hinterland residents and water carriers to access reticulated water during the next dry spell. I have asked for considerationof extra standpipes in Bli Bli, Eumundi and above the Landers Shute Treatment Station to eliminate the need for water trucks to have to travel down the Range to fill up.
Terrific Terraces
THE much-anticipated refurbishment of the Eumundi Terraces has been completed. To celebrate this $1.4 million project, the official opening is today at 10am. The council has contributed $669,000, with the balance being paid equally by Experience Eumundi, Eumundi and District Community Association and Eumundi Historical Association.
