Chance for aspiring TV writers to pitch ideas at Byron Bay
ASPIRING television writers will have a chance to pitch their ideas to industry professionals at tomorrow's Paper to Pitch workshop in Byron Bay.
Participants will present their ideas to Miriam Stein, who won the 2013 International Pitching Competition at Cannes, resulting in production deals in Italy, the US and the UK.
Her idea, Big Again, sees pop icons from the '70s and '80s mentoring three new artists to reproduce one of their hits and together make it "big again".
After winning the pitching competition at Cannes, doors opened for her production company, Hatch Entertainment, and the format is now being distributed by Warner Bros International. It has been optioned by US TV presenter Ellen DeGeneres and other major production companies.
Ms Stein said the key to a winning pitch was to think how it could be sold to a worldwide audience.
Paper to Pitch will be held at the Byron Regional Sports and Cultural Complex from 9.30am-4.30pm.
The event is one of several professional development programs being run through local film group Screenworks.
