Late night brainwave leads to new creative class

A BRAINWAVE in the middle of the night sparked the idea for a new creative class in Warwick.

Studio Style Inside Out owner Louise Tait said she was trying to think of new ways for people to connect with art, when the idea came to her for an art journaling class.

"Not everyone feels comfortable picking up a paint brush,” she said.

"Art journaling is a lot messier, there are no rules and whatever works, works.”

Art journaling brings together different materials, such as fabric, stamping or buttons.

Offering pages for people to explore their creativity, art journaling is good for mental health, she said.

"We're so disconnected with being on our electric devices that we forget how we need to connect with one another,” she said.

"For me it's a place I can go to and be comfortable and I want to share that.”

The classes come after a series of successful Wine-Down Paint Afternoons at the store, which Mrs Tait said had been successful.

"I've had people that have come to the wine down paint nights and have never before 100 per cent switched off the same way they have when they've been painting,” she said.

"They're learning new skills in painting and they love being in the environment.”

Mrs Tait said art journaling meant something different to everyone, so participants could use their finished journal however they wished.

"It's not about the outcome, that's the great thing about art journaling it doesn't matter how it ends up it's a collaboration of all forms of mixed media,” she said.

Each class holds a maximum of eight people, which Mrs Tait said allowed her to enjoy more one-on-one time with participants.

Beginners as well as experienced artists are invited.

Join the fun on March 3 for $40 per person or $30 if you book before January 31.

Costs cover all materials and the journal.

Pay to secure spot in-store at 148 Wood St.
