Last chance to gain share of $100,000 funding
DON'T miss the opportunity to share in $100,000 of Queensland Government funding.
Queensland Seniors Week, 17-25 August, provides opportunities to promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing, facilitate community participation, and enhance community connections.
Simply, it's about connecting with folk of all ages and backgrounds, dispelling the stereotypes associated with ageing, and assisting to reduce social isolation.
Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland receives funding from the Queensland Government to collaboratively plan, run and subsidise events and activities.
Funded by the Queensland Government, the program provides $100,000 to subsidise events and activities held during Queensland Seniors Week. Eligible applicants can apply for up to $1000.
Are you planning a Seniors Week event? Check your eligibility in the guidelines here and apply today. Applications close on Sunday, 7 April.
Celebrating the theme, the poster used to showcase the event features people from different backgrounds, cultures, and ages from previous Seniors Week events.
But this has only captured a small portion of the more than 741,000 Queenslanders over the age of 65.
Organisations are encouraged to customise their own poster and showcase their community champions.
They could also run a photo competition, asking community members to nominate themselves and share with what Seniors Week means to them.
