MOTORISTS are moving on the Monash Freeway after a motorcyclist and truck smash left the major arterial in gridlock this morning.

A motorcyclist is in a critical condition after ploughing into the back of a stationary truck shortly after 6am.

The man in his 30s is believed to have clipped a car, before crashing into the back of a truck near Springvale Rd.

He remains in a critical condition at the Alfred Hospital.

All lanes were reopened just before 9am.

But delays continued for some time as traffic resumed to normal.

Some replacement buses for the Cranbourne/Pakenham train lines were also stuck in the Monash Fwy chaos earlier this morning.

Metro Trains said other buses had been diverted to the Dandenong Bypass and passengers faced up to 15 minute delays.
