Aerospace hub clear for take-off

THE Aerospace and Defence Support Centre in Ipswich is a step closer to fruition after the Federal Government agreed to the priority sale of land for the facility.

The three parcels totalling 22.6ha will be combined with the State Government's existing 143ha.

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said the priority sale of the land was agreed to yesterday.

"I have been advised that the land will be sold to the Queensland Government, which intends to develop the centre to enable companies and organisations to provide support services to Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley," he said.

"This will be a master-planned technology hub for high value-add and knowledge-based aerospace and defence support enterprises.

"It will be particularly significant for those enterprises that will provide support for the Defence assets based at RAAF Amberley."

It is envisaged that the hub could eventually provide up to 3500 aerospace jobs.
