Konvoy 4 Kids celebrates 10th anniversary raising awareness

TRUCKIES will be rolling through Mackay this weekend as Konvoy 4 Kids celebrates it's 10th anniversary and raises money for Variety The Children's Charity.

In it's 10th year after resuming in 2009 following a hiatus for the long-established event, Konvoy 4 Kids raises awareness and funds for children who are facing challenges through sickness or disability.

About 120 trucks will leave Sarina at 10am Sunday and the convoy is scheduled to travel along Paradise St and through to Milton St before arriving at the Mackay showgrounds at 11:15am.

Konvoy 4 Kids organiser Madonna Stevens said the event would include a variety of stalls and activities for all who attended.

"There will be market stalls, food stalls, raffles, rides - which will be free for the kids -and 16 categories of awards that will include 'Year of Make' and 'Best Fleet' for the trucks that travel as part of the convoy," Ms Stevens said.

"We're hoping to raise around $12,000 this year and it will be a special event for us so I'm hoping the community will provide a good turnout and support the charity," she said.

Admission to the event will be $5 for adults and free for children under the age of 15.

The gates to Mackay showgrounds open at 10:30am on Sunday and the event will finish about 3pm.
