Kingaroy's Olympian honoured for her efforts
Beach Volleyball: Kingaroy's Taliqua Clancy has been named Most Outstanding Player - Women's Senior Beach Volleyball at Volleyball Australia's annual awards night.
Clancy and Rio Olympics partner Louise Grice (nee: Bawden) accepted the award at the Sydney Boulevard Hotel for their performances and services to volleyball over the past 18 months.
Australia's top-ranked women's duo, Clancy and Grice made it to the quarter-finals of the 2016 Olympics before bowing out in straight sets to legendary USA duo and eventual bronze medallists Kerry Walsh-Jennings and April Ross.
An injury over summer sidelined Clancy and threatened to derail the pair's run at the upcoming FIVB World Championships in Vienna.
But Kingaroy's favourite daughter showed no signs of rust on her return to the sand, partnering Grice to victory at the Asian Volleyball Championships in April.
A recent 2-1 loss at the hands of Canadian duo Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour scuppered their winning run, but there is still plenty of water under the bridge between now and Vienna.
