Kids' mini rig just like champ
THE detail in Laurie William's Western Star was "like no other”, said Heywood Truck Show organiser Lindy Annett
"There's a lot of love in that truck,” she said.
"It was so well looked after, it was just impeccable.”
Lindy said Laurie's amazing truck won Rig of the Show at the annual event on February 23.
She said along with the Western Star, they brought with them a fantastic little miniature sized truck that kept the kids happy.
"The kids rode in it and it was a huge highlight of the day,” she said.
Among the show's events was a ceremony for the South West Road Transport Wall of Legends, in which another six names - John Moore, Sam Roberts, Ray Dennert, Jack Peach, Graham Mirtschin and John Dyson - were added to the wall.
She said the wall, which she started out of her admiration for the industry, celebrated all of those who served the industry.
"There were a few emotional stories on the day,” she said.
Everybody's favourite reality truckie television star Yogi also made an appearance at the show, bringing along with him the Outback Truckers film crew.
Another highlight was the stunt rider truck jump.
"Factory FMX jumped four trucks - that was pretty cool and awesome. (The crowd) loved it,” Lindy said.
She said sales from the 2019 calendar they'd created also went well.
"We did sell a huge amount and got some great feedback from truckies who were willing to raise their hand so we can do another. They insisted we keep doing it so they can support it.”
You can still buy a calendar on the 2019 Aussie Calendar Facebook page for $20, including postage and handling.
