Kicking costs Cutters dearly in Tweed loss
Rugby League: Kicking has cost the Mackay Cutters victory in a 24-22 defeat at the hands of the Tweed Heads Seagulls at Piggabeen on Sunday.
The Cutters scored five tries to four, but the more efficient Seagulls converted all four of their tries to hold on by two points.
After Tweed opened scoring through Talor Walters in the first minute, the Cutters hit back in the sixth minute through Nicho Hynes, before Nate Saumalu crossed for the visitors' second try in the 19th.
Crossing for three tries to two in the second-half, the Cutters looked set for a much needed win, but it wasn't to be, as Hynes converted only one of his side's five tries.
The win leaves the Cutters anchored to the bottom of the ladder on three wins, while the Seagulls (11th), keep their finals hopes alive.
