Keeping our seniors fit forum for Toowoomba
AN INFORMATION session teaching seniors how to exercise and stay fit and healthy in the home will be held in Toowoomba next week.
Home Instead Senior Care Toowoomba has partnered with Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre to conduct the wellness and health session to be held at the City Golf Club from 10.30am on Friday, May 25.
"It's designed to teach seniors and their carers exercises that can be done safely in the home," explained Tammie Dingle of Home Instead Senior Care Toowoomba.
"We will also be providing information on hydrotherapy at Milne Bay Pool for which they have to get a referral from their doctor.
"But we will provide information on how to do that too."
The exercises include light weights which seniors can use safely in the home.
A guest speaker from the Bone Clinic in Toowoomba will speak on techniques for building bones strength for the mainly over 50s.
The session, from 10.30am to 1.30pm, is part of Exercise Right Week which runs from May 21 to 27.
This year's theme Motivation to Move is aimed to inspire those who don't exercise to move more with an emphasis on the importance of seeking the right exercise expert for their personal requirements.
Tea, coffee and lunch will be provided after the session.
