THE jury in the trial of a Warwick man accused of indecently touching an underage girl during their mutual love of horse sports has retired to consider a verdict.

The now 18-year-old woman accused the 73-year-old man of repeatedly touching her inappropriately when she was 13 and 14 in 2012.

The girl's family had a property neighbouring the accused man's property outside Warwick and after she developed an interest in horse riding he had allowed her to ride one of his horses.

The man had also coached the girl in campdraft competition horse riding techniques.

She claimed he would lean over from his horse to the horse she was riding and touch her inappropriately when they would be exercising the horses and also inside the man's gooseneck horse trailer when they stayed overnight at campdrafts.

The man, who cannot be named, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of maintaining a sexual relationship with a girl under 16 and to a count of indecent treatment of a girl under 16.

During the three day trial in Toowoomba District Court, the accused man took the witness stand to deny the allegations.

The jury retired to consider a verdict at 11.25 this morning after the case was summed up by Judge David Searles.
