Jordyn among Fearless Females

SEEING Jordyn Archer's name among a list of illustrious celebrities including Samantha Armytage, Dannii Minogue, Torah Bright and Sophie Monk, indicates how her hard work is paying off.

The 22-year-old from Kawana has been nominated in the Role Model category of Cosmopolitan magazine's Fun, Fearless Female Awards, for founding The Rescue Movement, which raises funds for charities including Destiny Rescue.

"It's pretty exciting, Cosmopolitan's a huge magazine and to have that kind of exposure for Rescue is great," she said.

"It will be great to make people more aware of this issue."

The accolade is among many for Jordyn, who was named Queensland Young Australian of the Year last year and was one of eight finalists in the running for Young Australian of the Year this year.

At age 16, the former Caloundra Christian College student established the not-for-profit organisation Chant for Change (later changed to The Rescue Movement) and began volunteering for Destiny Rescue, which rescues children from sex slavery.

Through The Rescue Movement, Jordyn has held charity events to raise money for Destiny Rescue and over the past six years, has raised more than $30,000.

The Rescue Movement has grown beyond an event on the Sunshine Coast, this year launching across Australia.

In her spare time she and brother Joel work tirelessly for the homeless and underprivileged. Voting is at cosmopolitan.com.au/funfearlessfemale.
